Deadline for proposals for the 10th IIEMCA Conference
Von: staff vals-asla
The deadline for panel proposals for the 10th IIEMCA Conference is September 1. The deadline for individual papers and posters is November 1 (please see the complete call for papers below). We are looking forward to your submissions!
The next conference of the International Institute for Ethnomethodology and Conversation Analysis (IIEMCA) will be held at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland), July 10-14, 2011.
The aim of the conference is to promote the study of practical action and social interaction and to provide an international forum for researchers working within the domains of Ethnomethodology and Conversation Analysis.
This call for papers invites abstracts addressing issues at the intersection of social action, language use and interaction within the framework of Ethnomethodology, Conversation Analysis and/or connected approaches (e.g., Interactional Linguistics). Abstracts should be submitted in English.
Abstracts should clearly state the main point or argument of the paper. They should make explicit on which empirical data and/or conceptual arguments they are based. They should situate the topic of the paper with reference to previous research.
Also, authors should explain in what way the paper contributes to the development of the field.
Abstracts for three kinds of submissions can be proposed: panels, individual papers, and posters.
Panels:
Proposals for panels with 3-6 speakers (i.e. 1 or 2 slots) are welcome. Panel proposals should be submitted in two steps:
- first, a general description of the panel (400 words) with the name(s) of the panel convenors and the names of the expected speakers should be submitted by email to contact@iiemca-conference.org as a Microsoft Word or PDF document.
- second, if the panel is accepted, abstracts of the panel's papers (400 words) should be submitted individually by the speakers through the Conference website (www.iiemca-conference.org). Abstracts are to be submitted anonymously and should indicate the title of the panel to which they belong.
Individual presentations:
Spoken presentation time for papers will be 20 minutes + 10 minutes of discussion. Individual presentations should be submitted with an anonymous abstract of 400 words. The submission will be done through the Conference website (www.iiemca-conference.org).
Posters:
A specific slot will be provided within the program for poster sessions. Poster proposals should be submitted with an anonymous abstract of 400 words. The submission should be done through the Conference website (www.iiemca-conference.org).
Only one abstract as single author and a second as co-author will be accepted from any one individual.
Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Committee.
